This is the central page that will list all the UK's best independent music podcasts, each based in a university but dedicated to playing the best of University AND Town music, breaking down the boundaries and getting music heard.

But What is a Podcast you say?

Well, im glad you asked. A podcast is an mp3 radio broadcast, not made by any central radio station but by individuals, collecting music from the place they live and playing it without any rules or restrictions. A Podcast, because it is mp3, can be paused, rewound, fast forwarded - all things you cant do on normal radio. Plus its independent - so there is no need for advertising or anything that detracts from the music.

But why do we need a podcast, you say?

Well, im glad you asked. I - like you - know that there is a massive amount of musical talent in every city in this little country of ours. There is also a massive amount of people that want to hear each others music. But the mechanism isnt in place to make the most of it. Open Mics happen all the time, university radio and local radio play local music - and bands are formed in every college or uni by everyone with a guitar and a mate who plays drums. But whilst these things mean that some music is being heard, it still seems that the vast majority is not. And even when the music is heard I think it could be heard a great deal louder. But there is something we can do.

This is what we should do.

A Network of university and town podcasts, each showcasing the best in their town's talent. There will then be a central show to play the best of the best - and that way get music heard all over the country.

This will be awesome.

So set up your own podcast, let us know, join the network, and head full on into the revolution.

Join Us.
